PRIESTS' ANNUAL RETREAT

From Monday June 10 to Friday June 14, 2024, priests from the dioceses of St-Jérôme-Mont-Laurier, Joliette and Gatineau took part in a retreat at l'Étoile du Nord in Saint-Donat, Lanaudière. The theme of the retreat was Prenons la route. It was preached by Mgr Lionel Gendron, retired bishop of St-Jean-Longueuil. His teaching was an invitation to take stock of our presbyteral ministry and move it forward. The highlights of the retreat included talks, the Eucharist, community (breviary) and individual prayer, the celebration of the sacrament of forgiveness, salvation in the Blessed Sacrament, and a time of fellowship.

PROUDLY VISITED ALL 2024 GRANT RECIPIENTS

On May 31st, the Novatio team returned to Gracefield to grant funds to two more organizations in the Gatineau-Valley. First, the Foundation's Executive Director Deacon René Laprise visited Aux goûts du jour, an organization dedicated to providing food assistance to those in need across several municipalities along Route 105.

Next, Mr. Gislain Charette, Executive Director of the Centre de valorisation des aliments de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, was pleased to welcome the Foundation to their downtown Gracefield location, where local products are showcased. Their project, " De la terre à l'assiette, sur la route de l'engagement pour l'équité et la dignité humaine", tackles issues related to food security in the Outaouais region through collaborative efforts with parishes, organizations, and the indigenous community.

Finally, the Foundation concluded with a visit on June 6th to the Hull Soup Kitchen (Soupe Populaire de Hull), where Novatio's Board Chair Richard Rochefort met the Board members along with the head chef. The Soup Kitchen aims to meet the growing needs by providing a warm meal to those in need.
