NEWS FROM THE DIOCESAN SERVICES - May 2, 2023

ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS WEEK

In Quebec, we recently celebrated the Administrative Professionals Week. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the essential role played by secretaries and other support staff in our parishes. They (the vast majority are women!) are on the front line of interaction with parishioners and the general public. They coordinate many services, ensure communications, remind people of deadlines and see to the smooth running of our parishes. Many provide this service on a volunteer basis, especially in our rural parishes. Administrative Professionals Week may be over, but it's never too late to show our gratitude and support to these kind-hearted women.

Assemblée des évêques catholiques du Québec — Message for May 1st, 2023 (click on the picture to see the message)

National Family & Life Week (NFLW), May 7-14, 2023, is an invitation from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops to the faithful in Canada to celebrate the joy and beauty of family and life by seeking out new and creative ways to live out this call in our daily lives. The NFLW theme is Jesus' words, "Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another" (John 13:34). Love is at the heart of familial relationships and our families are a communion of love in Christ. We are "guardians of life" when we love one another within our families, as well as in wider society when we show kindness toward and care for the vulnerable and marginalized.

The Green Church Network has produced video for use by your faith community in preparation for Earth Day 2023. We hope that this video will inspire you to take action for a better future. It looks at three themes that will be addressed during Creation Time 2023: biodiversity, wetlands and renewable energy. Watch the video here.

THE 2022 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR OUR PARISHES

This year again, the 2023 fundraising campaign for our parishes ("la dîme") is currently taking place in all 53 parishes of our diocesan Church.

With the partnership of Jardins du Souvenir, the Archdiocese continues to work with parishes by providing promotional tools and advertising. With a new theme of For My Parish...With All My Heart, Building the Future, the campaign runs through the spring with a reminder in the fall.
