FROM GOLF TO ARCHBISHOP'S BRUNCHES

After ten editions of the Archbishop's Golf Open, the annual fundraising event of the diocese to support community organizations is changing its formula to become the Archbishop's Brunch. After Archbishop Durocher's pastoral visits to the four corners of the diocese, the Archbishop's Brunch will be a tour of four brunches to meet with diocesan residents to experience a fraternal moment while supporting community organizations. In fact, at each of the brunches, the profits collected will be redistributed to organizations in the territory of each pastoral zone. The cost of tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for children. Parishes will be notified as soon as ticket sales begin and there will be several points of sale. Here is the brunch schedule for each of the pastoral areas:

  • 1st brunch: for parishes in the English zone, October 7 at St. Mark's Parish Hall in the Aylmer area.
  • 2nd brunch: for parishes in the Eastern zone, October 22 at the St-André-Avellin municipal hall (Whissell complex).
  • 3rd brunch: for parishes in the Central and Western zones, on November 5 at the Ste-Trinité parish hall, Gatineau sector.
  • 4th brunch: for parishes in the Northern zone, on November 19 at the parish hall of L'Assomption-de-Marie parish in Maniwaki.

Please reserve one of these dates in your calendar. Information: diocesan bursar's office.

NEWS FROM THE PARISHES AND MOVEMENTS

FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR SSVP CONFERENCE IN MONTEBELLO, COLOMBIA

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has an international program where conferences in developed countries "twin" with other conferences in poorer countries. In 2019, St. Mark's Conference in Aylmer joined this initiative and the Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes (Our Lady of Mercy) Conference in Montebello, Colombia was chosen as our twin. Our conference provides them with some financial assistance annually to help them carry out their mission of charity and social justice.
Both of our conferences share the same Vincentian commitment to serve the poor and we support each other through prayer. We also encourage each other by exchanging correspondence concerning our service to our communities. Our twin conference focuses a lot of attention on the elderly and disabled people in need in Montebello.
A special fundraising event for our twin conference will take place in St. Mark's parish hall on Saturday, March 25, starting at 7:00 pm. A few guests from Colombia will be present and we will enjoy some Colombian music and dance presentations.  Tickets cost $15 and attendance is free for children under 12. Refreshments will be served and there will be a surprise raffle.
Anyone interested in getting tickets can contact Dorli McCrank at 819-360-8312.
