NEWS FROM THE DIOCESAN SERVICES - February 7, 2023

31ST WORLD DAY OF THE SICK

The Vatican released Pope Francis's message for the 31st World Day of the Sick, celebrated every year on 11 February, liturgical memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes. The Holy Father's message is entitled: "Take care of him" – Compassion as a synodal exercise of healing. In light of the Church's synodal journey, Pope Francis invites "all of us to reflect on the fact that it is especially through the experience of vulnerability and illness that we can learn to walk together according to the style of God, which is closeness, compassion, and tenderness."

LENTEN PROJECT 2023 FOR OUR DIOCESE

Each year, during the season of Lent, Vie liturgique proposes liturgical arrangements to accompany Christian communities in their Easter journey. The theme suggested for this Lent is Living together the walk towards Easter. We note the very close link between this theme and the synodal process in which the Church is currently engaged (process of listening, dialogue and community discernment).

In order to be Church together and to create strong links between us, we would like to have news from your parish. Give us your news, tell us about your successes, your projects so that we can be enriched by each other's experiences. To better carry out the Mission together, let us open ourselves to the power of the Holy Spirit to release among us the Word that comforts, encourages and supports.

"So comfort one another and build each other up, just as you are already doing. (1 Thess 5:11)

Registration will begin this spring and all faith traditions are invited to register their accessibility and heritage activities. In 2022, 12 sites were accessible in the Outaouais.

NEWS FROM THE PARISHES AND MOVEMENTS

CONTINUING GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE APPROACH

Les Jardins du Souvenir has been actively engaged in a sustainable development process for more than two years now.

  • After having decided to let unused areas of some of our cemeteries return temporarily to their natural state, in order to reduce the pollution caused by our maintenance equipment;
  • After having followed the great movement of "May without mower" to promote better pollination;
  • After having offered a training workshop to all our employees on the "sustainable development" of cemeteries;
  • After having shared this training with more than fifteen representatives of parish cemeteries;

We are undertaking the first step of a new phase that will lead us, in a few years, to offer our clients healthier, more natural and less polluting cemeteries. Find out more
