The IRCM Marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Every year, on February 11, the IRCM and the scientific community seize the opportunity to draw attention to the contribution of women to science. This year, we dedicated an entire week to this great theme.

Rare Disease Day

On the 16th edition of the Rare Disease Day, the IRCM, home to some of the most promising research in this field, would like to thank its healthcare and administration teams for their efforts, often on a voluntary basis, during the pandemic, to vaccinate the immunodeficient population at the time of the first booster dose. This case-by-case follow-up, which required substantial deployment, proved to be a success.

Taking HIV Research Further

Published in Stem Cell Report, this work resulting from a collaboration between Dr. Éric Cohen (PhD), director of the Human Retrovirology Unit at the IRCM, and Dr. Elie Haddad (MD / PhD), clinical researcher at the CHU Sainte-Justine, presents a new high-performance and accessible preclinical model that will facilitate research on HIV.

Two Years of Clinical Research on Long-COVID at the IRCM

This valuable work from the clinic focuses on understanding the long-lasting symptoms and complications of the disease that undermine the lives of a significant portion of patients with a history of COVID-19.

Winner of the Intercentre Structuring Initiatives 2023-2024 Competition

Does Chylomicronemia ring a bell? A so-called rare disease that predisposes individuals to a high risk of acute pancreatitis. Dr. Bernard and her team have been awarded a major grant to continue work on these issues. Congratulations!

Welcome to Nadia Dubé!

Our new Vice-President, Development and Administration comes to us with a strong understanding of the imperatives of science, but also of funding and partnerships cogwheels that support research. Dr. Dubé will be an invaluable asset as we move forward with major new initiatives to position the IRCM at the forefront of cutting-edge Molecular Medicine.
