Mission Month 2023
CELEBRATING, PROMOTING AND SUPPORTING MISSIONARY ACTION

October's Mission Month is an opportunity for the Church to highlight the importance of missionary commitment on the part of all the baptized, and the various evangelization initiatives associated with it. World Mission Sunday (WMD) - established by Pope Pius XI in 1926 and entrusted to the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith - is the highlight of the Month. Celebrated on the penultimate Sunday of October, it is a special day of prayer and fundraising for the various initiatives supported by the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

FIRST ARCHBISHOP'S BRUNCH: A GREAT SUCCESS

On October 7, St. Mark's parish hosted the Archbishop's Brunch in partnership with the Novatio Foundation. This first brunch was for parishes in the English zone of the diocese and aimed to support organizations selected by parishes in the zone. Thanks to sponsors, including Jardins du Souvenir, and ticket sales, nearly $4,000 was donated to 4 community organizations. These organizations are Center alimentaire d'Aylmer / Aylmer Food Centre; L'autre chez-soi (a home for women victims of domestic violence and their children); Dîner pour mieux apprendre (meal/lunch assistance for children in elementary schools in the Buckingham sector) and Venosta Recreation Association (in the Upper Gatineau region).
