NEWS FROM THE DIOCESAN SERVICES - November 1, 2022

DIOCESAN WORLD YOUTH DAY, SUNDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2022
Diocesan Youth Mass at St François de Sales

In November 2020, Pope Francis announced his decision to move the diocesan WYD from Palm Sunday to the Feast of Christ the King. Thus, this year, the diocesan WYD will take place in all the dioceses of the world (including our diocese) on Sunday 20 November 2022.
It should be remembered that Pope John Paul called the young people to Rome for the first time on the Feast of Christ the King in 1984, and a year later, on the occasion of the International Year of Youth, he called them again. The success of these two major events led the Pope to create WYD. Since then, they have been celebrated every year in every diocese on Palm Sunday and every two to three years at the global level as a large gathering that brings together young people from all over the world, in joy, around the Pope.

For the 2022 edition of the diocesan WYD the Archdiocese of Gatineau invites all young people aged 16 and over to the WYD Mass presided over by Bishop Paul-André Durocher on Sunday, November 20 at 2 p.m. at Saint-François de Sales Church. Thank you to the pastors and the various parish and movement workers for making this activity known to the young people in your area.

TO CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION ON SYNODALITY

Synod: Voices of excluded heard in Document for Continental Phase
The Synod of Bishops publishes the text that will provide a "frame of reference" and form the basis for the work of the second stage of the synodal path launched by Pope Francis in 2021. The Working Document for the Continental Stage was based on the syntheses coming from the churches of the five continents after consultation with the faithful and others.

DO YOU NEED TRAINING?

The launches of the pastoral year in your parish communities have underlined the desire to implement the recommendations of the synodal process.  The importance of welcoming, listening, communicating, sharing the Word of God in small groups as well as the need for training were repeatedly expressed.
We are pleased to inform you that André Inkel, our diocesan pastoral officer, will be available for your training needs. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the trainings André can give:

  • How to walk in synodality for a Church on the move
  • Evangelisation in a changing world
  • Empathetic listening
  • Conflict management
  • Catechesis for teens and adults
  • And many more

NEWS FROM THE PARISHES AND MOVEMENTS

In 2020, before the events related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown that disrupted everyone's schedule, the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame were preparing to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of their foundress, Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys. Time has passed and if this event to celebrate together was a missed opportunity, so be it! It is with joy that we celebrate each new occasion to remember the life and work of Saint Marguerite and her daughters. Read more...
