DIOCESAN CENTER SUMMER SCHEDULE AND SUMMER VACATION 2023

As in the past, our offices will close at noon on Fridays from June 30 to September 1, 2023 inclusive.

Annual vacation: the Diocesan Center offices will be closed from July 31 to August 11, 2023.

The diocesan staff wishes you a pleasant vacation.

WORLD DAY OF GRANDPARENTS AND ELDERS, JULY 23

The fourth Sunday in July is now dedicated to seniors and grandparents. This date was chosen because of its proximity to the feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim, celebrated on July 23 in memory of Jesus' grandparents. Pope Francis wishes to pay tribute to the elderly, underlining their importance in society and in the spiritual and social lives of young people. It's an act of tenderness that shows a presence towards them while at the same time valuing them.
The theme chosen by Pope Francis for this year's World Day is "His mercy is from age to age" (Luke 1:50).

THE VENOSTA COMMUNITY GATHERS FOR ITS ANNUAL COMMUNITY FELLOWSHIP

On June 24th, Our Lady of Sorrows parish in Venosta hosted its Annual Church Picnic. This event brings together family and friends for a time fun and fellowship in a friendly, barrier-free environment. Ms. Monique Washnuk, Philanthropic Development Advisor at the Novatio Foundation, was on hand to officially present the Foundation's financial support for this successful event, which showcased Venosta's talent and pride. Thanks to the time, talent and energy of many, a delicious meal was served, and beautiful music was played throughout the day and during the evening's mass.

Last February, for the Novatio Foundations's first year of peration, the Board of Directors announced the funding of $71,270 in projects. In 2023, the Foundation has been involved in 11 projects in parishes and community organizations throughout the Archdiocese of Gatineau.

THE NOTRE-DAME DE L'EAU VIVE PARISH RECEIVES HELP FROM THE NOVATIO FOUNDATION

On June 25th, the Sunday mass marked the end of the pastoral year at Notre-Dame de l'Eau Vive parish. During this mass, the Novatio's director took the opportunity to officially hand over the Foundation's financial support for two projects: 1) The pastoral care of young adults, and 2) The welcome and integration of immigrant families.

The first project gives young adults aged 18 and over, either studying or in the workforce, the opportunity to meet twice a month to share, discuss and pray. The second project, called Café-rencontre, enables immigrant families to socialize, share and feel welcome in the parish and neighborhood community.

CALL FOR PROJECTS 2023-2024

In the fall of 2023, the Novatio Foundation will launch its second call for projects. The submitted projects will be supported in early 2024. If your parish, movement, or community organization in the Archdiocese of Gatineau is dreaming of a new project - If you want to reach out to families, young people, seniors, aboriginal communities or the underprivileged or marginalized - Novatio invites you to start dreaming and thinking about your project. The project presentation form will be available in September, and the deadline for submitting your form to the Novatio Foundation will be October 31, 2023.
