Explore a winter wonderland!

Now that the snow has fallen, it's time to explore Mount Royal with one of the fun guided discovery walks organized by Les Amis. Our guides will lead you through our mountain's snowy pathways, show you breathtaking views, and teach you about flora and fauna along the way.

Need a weekend outing with the family? Kids love bird watching on snowshoes! If you're looking for something more romantic, check out By The Glow of the City Lights.

There's a guided walk to please everyone, of all ages.

Did you know?

There's a page on the Les Amis website devoted to snow conditions and work in progress on the mountain—and it's updated daily! The snow may be here now, but winter (and climate change) make for unpredictable conditions.

Visit this handy page while planning your outing, and if the weather seems variable, the quality of the hot chocolate at Les Amis's Café is not!

Start volunteering in 2024

Hey bird watchers! If one of your 2024 resolutions is to volunteer or to (re)connect with nature, Les Amis has an opportunity that combines those two passions.

Join us for FeederWatch, a citizen science project that involves counting birds seen at feeders throughout Mount Royal Park. Your first step is completing training on either February 3 (FR) or February 10 (EN).

Our 2023 Advocacy round-up (and what's coming in 2024)

Yes, we organize activities to help Montrealers fully enjoy our beautiful mountain, but Les Amis also actively promotes and advocates for Mount Royal's interests in urban planning projects around the city and on the mountain.

This means (among other things!) getting involved in public consultations to ensure that Mount Royal is given its rightful place in the City of Montréal's 2050 Land Use and Mobility Plan, and that views to and from the mountain are protected.

To learn more about our achievements in 2023, as well as our commitments for 2024, you can read our full report. And for an at-a-glance look at Les Amis in the news in 2023, click here

Donations: why we need them and where they go

Les Amis de montagne has been working on the ground to protect and promote Mount Royal and its green spaces for over 35 years. As a non-profit organization, all profits are reinvested in our organization's mission.

Our team of 80 full-time employees and 30 seasonal staff, including biologists, educators, outdoor sports instructors and café staff, cherish our mountain as much as you do.

As we continue to advocate for our iconic Mount Royal, your financial donation helps us go that much further. To learn more about how our resources are allocated, read this report from our Philanthropy Team for the full details.

If you love nature, please help Les Amis protect it for years to come!

Day camp: Registration opens February 15!

By popular demand, we made two changes to our summer day camp program:

  1. Registration will now open earlier on Thursday, February 15 at 10AM!
  2. Base camp has been moved back to Beaver Lake Pavilion for smoother drop-off and pickup!

Les Amis' day camps are designed for children 6-12 years of age. Whether they come for one week or two, your little ones will experience unforgettable moments in the great outdoors. They will learn about the mountain's natural heritage, local flora and fauna and how to protect its green spaces through guided walks, games and other educational activities.

Do you have a little nature lover in mind? Get more information about our day camps by subscribing to our Family newsletter (make sure to check the "Activities for kids" box).

And don't forget to tell your friends! Word of mouth is the best way to help our community of kids grow.
