NEWS FROM THE DIOCESAN SERVICES - May 10, 2022

Please note that our offices will be closed on May 23, 2022.

LET'S KEEP THEM IN OUR PRAYERS

  • Fr. Henri Abena has been experiencing a somewhat worrying health situation, manifested mainly by excessive fatigue. His doctor has put him on leave for a month while he undertakes a series of tests to clarify the cause. Let us keep him in our prayers.
  • Fr. Aubert April, a priest from our diocese who retired to the Mauricie region many years ago, has been admitted to palliative care in Rivière-du-Loup. Let us entrust him to the Lord's mercy as he prepares himself for the Great Passage.
  • Our permanent deacon, Jacques Bertrand was hospitalized with pneumonia. We wish him a quick recovery.

DIOCESAN SYNODAL ASSEMBLY

From 2018 to 2021, our diocese has been going through a synodal process under the theme "Christ, Us, Our Communities, Our Settings."
On Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Collège Saint-Alexandre (2425 Rue Saint-Louis Gatineau), we will experience an important event. We are invited to a diocesan synodal assembly. During this assembly, we will do a work of discernment under the action of the Holy Spirit: we will validate the reports of the dialogues from the parishes, and we will formulate a great diocesan synthesis. This synthesis will be integrated into a Canadian document that will be part of the preparation tools for the Bishops' Synod in Rome in 2023. The purpose of the assembly is also to allow us to look together at the road ahead.
Priests, parishioners delegated by their communities, delegates of the diocesan movements and religious communities are invited to this assembly.

Schedule of the Synodal Assembly:

  • 8:30 a.m. Welcome
  • 9:00 a.m. Welcome and orientation for the day with an opening prayer
  • 9:30 am to 12:00 pm Diocesan Synodal Assembly sessions. Delegates work in workshops followed by a plenary session.
  • 12:00 Liturgy of the Word to conclude the synodal process
  • 12:30 BBQ picnic and celebration of the 25th anniversary of the episcopal ordination of Bishop Paul-André Durocher
  • 7:00 pm Concert with Robert Lebel at Maria Goretti Church (664 Rue de Duberger, Gatineau)

NB: The picnic and the concert are open to all diocesans. The picnic (BBQ) is free, but it is important to notify Mrs. Annie Esson Assoua assouaa@diocesegatineau.org ext. 306, in order to provide food accordingly.

This year again, the 2022 fundraising campaign for our parishes ("la dîme") is currently taking place in all 53 parishes of our diocesan Church.
