57th WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL COMMUNICATIONS

World Communications Day 2023 will be celebrated on Sunday 21 May.

The Pope's Message for the 57th World Day of Social Communications 2023 was released on 24 January, the Feast of St Francis de Sales, patron saint of Catholis writers and journalists. This year's theme is "Listen with the ear of the heart.". The message urges communicators to communicate cordially and never pursue hostile communications.

Speaking with the heart. "The truth in love" (Eph 4: 15)

The Green Church Network has produced video for use by your faith community in preparation for Earth Day 2023. We hope that this video will inspire you to take action for a better future. It looks at three themes that will be addressed during Creation Time 2023: biodiversity, wetlands and renewable energy. Watch the video here.

THE 2023 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN FOR OUR PARISHES

This year again, the 2023 fundraising campaign for our parishes ("la dîme") is currently taking place in all 53 parishes of our diocesan Church.

With the partnership of Jardins du Souvenir, the Archdiocese continues to work with parishes by providing promotional tools and advertising. With a new theme of For My Parish...With All My Heart, Building the Future, the campaign runs through the spring with a reminder in the fall.

Video message from Bishop Paul-André Durocher

APPOINTMENT TO THE NOVATIO FOUNDATION

The Board of Directors of the Novatio Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Monique Washnuk, CFRE, MPNL, as Philanthropic Development Advisor for the Foundation. As advisor, Monique will be responsible for the implementation of the major gifts and planned giving program, as well as Novatio's first annual campaign. Monique joined the Foundation on April 24th, she has extensive experience in philanthropy and is also a warden at St. Mark's Parish in Aylmer.

She has been involved with several foundations, most recently the Gatineau Health Foundation. For Monique, "a culture of philanthropy is about building lasting relationships, not just money. It is a way of operating that is based on the true essence of philanthropy - the love of humanity and in service of the public good."

In her new role at the Foundation and with her strong faith, she will work to foster lasting relationships with current and new donors that will further Novatio's mission, vision, and values and strengthen our community of faith through innovative projects in parishes, community organizations and within the diocese. By making a gift through the Foundation, you will support innovative pastoral projects that will strengthen our community today and for generations to come. If you are interested in learning more and about how you can create lasting change, please contact Monique at 819-771-8391, ext. 323, philanthropie@diocesegatineau.org

NEWS FROM THE PARISHES AND MOVEMENTS

A prayer in time of spiritual conflict. This prayer, inspired by chapter 6 of the Letter to the Ephesians, was composed by a parishioner to help those who struggle in difficult situations. We share it with her permission.

Holy Spirit of Jesus, help me put on the helmet of Salvation, the shoes of Peace, the belt of Truth and the breastplate of Righteousness; embolden me to take up the shield of Faith, and Your sword – which is the Word of God – to stand with You in Truth and in Light. Teach me to lead my brothers and sisters in humanity to the glory of your eternal love. Amen!
