DIOCESAN WYD

The Holy Father has chosen the themes for the two World Youth Days to be celebrated in the dioceses in 2023 and 2024, on the Solemnity of Christ the King.
There will therefore be a diocesan mass for all young people in our diocese. As last year, all young people in the diocese are warmly invited to this celebration (young teens, young adults, students, young people on the job market, waiting for a job...).

A LOOK BACK AT THE ARCHBISHOP'S BRUNCHES ON OCTOBER 22 AND NOVEMBER 5

On October 22, the Archbishop's Benefit Brunch for parishes in the Petite-Nation pastoral region was held at the Buckingham Knights of Columbus Hall. Over 125 people accepted the invitation, and the brunch raised $5,000 to support 10 community organizations in the Petite-Nation. On November 5, Ste-Trinité parish hosted the brunch for parishes in the Greater Gatineau, West and Central pastoral regions. The brunch was preceded by Sunday mass presided over by Archbishop Durocher, and over 200 people gathered for the event in the church basement. Proceeds of $6,700 were donated to eight Gatineau community organizations. The brunches were also an opportunity for fundraising partner Fondation Novatio to officially launch its first annual fundraising campaign, with a target of $50,000.
The Archbishop's Brunch Tour was made possible thanks to sponsors, including Les Jardins du Souvenir, as well as local teams who took charge of food preparation and service. The last brunch for 2023 will be held at the Salle paroissiale Christ-Roi in Maniwaki, on November 19.

CALL FOR PROJECTS 2023-2024

If you want to reach out to families, young people, seniors, aboriginal communities or the underprivileged or marginalized? Novatio invites you to start dreaming and thinking about your project. The project presentation form is available, and the deadline for submitting your form to the Novatio Foundation will be December 15, 2023.

Invitation to the 2023 AGM

The Novatio Foundation will hold its second Annual General Meeting on November 23 at 7 p.m. at the Diocesan Centre. The guest speaker at the AGM will be Father Michel Lacroix, who will talk about the historical involvement of the diocese, parishes and religious congregations in social causes, contributing to the creation and development of many community organizations in the region. Father Lacroix is well known for his many commitments at the diocesan level, including several years as regional head of Development and Peace. The AGM will also be an opportunity to present the Foundation's projects and achievements. SHARING THE LOAD: BACKPACKS FILLED WITH LOVE
St. Mark's Parish

Homelessness in Gatineau is at an all-time high. Outaouais area is the area in the province of Quebec where the number of people experiencing homelessness has increased the most in the last 4 years – 5 times more in 2022 in comparison to 2018. In Gatineau, 30% of them are female.

In light of this, our Christmas outreach program will transition from "Shoe Boxes" to "Backpacks for our Neighbours in Need". We wish to support them during the coming winter months and to show them that we care and we are thinking about them.  "Sharing the Load: Backpacks Filled with Love" will let them know "They are Never Forgotten".
