April 26-29 : Laser World of Photonics Munich

 

Optonique is organizing a Quebec pavilion highlighting 7 companies at the Laser World of Photonics Munich (April 26-29, 2022), which attracts over 33,000 visitors from more than 70 countries each year. For the first time, there will be a related event dedicated to quantum technologies, World of Quantum.

May 11-12 : Agrophotonics Conference

 

On May 11 and 12, the agrophotonics conference is organized with OptechZone AgtechBiopterreOptonique and Photonics Bretagne.

May 24-26: Photonics North 2022

 

Photonics North 2022 will be held in Niagara Falls. There will be plenary talks, simultaneous technical sessions, flash poster presentations, technical product demos and many opportunities to discuss with your colleagues and meet new people.

Abstract submission is currently open until February 28th.

More details will follow about exposing at Photonics North.

July 13-15 : Laser World of Photonics China 

 

Laser World of Photonics China, which will take place from July 13 to 15, 2022, is Asia's largest trade fair for the photonics industry. This conference has taken place in Shanghai every year since 2006. It presents the entire range of photonics in an international setting, tailored to the specific needs of the Chinese market.

 ABB secures $30 million order for satellite imaging technology 

 

ABB has been awarded a contract worth approximately $30 million by Canadian data and analytics company EarthDaily Analytics Corp. (EDA) to develop and manufacture next-generation multispectral imaging systems to be placed on 10 satellites (with one spare in orbit) that circles the Earth. The order was placed in the first quarter of 2022.

Once deployed on the satellite network, ABB's technology will continuously capture images of the planet's landmasses and vast sea areas as the satellites orbit the Earth.

Prix performance Québec 2022

 

The Prix performance Québec (PPQ) is the highest distinction awarded annually by the Quebec government to private companies and public organizations that stand out for the quality of their management and their overall performance.

Owned by the Government of Quebec, the PPQs are managed jointly by the Ministère de l'Économie et de l'Innovation and the Mouvement québécois de la qualité.

Organizations have until March 10, 2022 to submit their applications for the PPQ.

Announcement of two innovation zones in Quebec

A new call for applications is underway until March 17, 2022 at Quantino, the high-tech incubator powered by INO. It is open to innovative companies working in optics, photonics, hardware, or medical and quantum technologies.

R&D funding from the Canadian Space Agency

 

The Canadian Space Agency is issuing an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) to specifically support the Canadian space sector with funds to demonstrate new technologies in space, prior to December 2026. This AO will provide non-repayable contributions of up to $2 million per research and development project with expected benefits in the short to medium term (i.e. 1-5 years).

Innovative Solutions Canada Challenge: High Resolution Forest Mapping

 

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is seeking to develop a software solution for the creation of vegetation data using high-resolution mapping (down to 1 m) in peri-urban environments and vegetated areas near communities to enable detailed prediction of fire behaviour, fire risk assessment and planning of fire mitigation activities.

The CELS Valley Ready (VR) program is a comprehensive series of activities that coach, promote and connect its participating Canadian life sciences companies to achieve their goals in Silicon Valley.
